constructed on the last available space in the Federal Triangle area of Washington
D.C. The food court in this building was designed by the GSA architect with a high
dome ceiling surrounded by a flat ceiling surface with vaulted sky-lights. The
architect realized that this unique design, which includes hard reflective surfaces
all around, coupled with the parabolic affect of the dome, would create an
undesirable acoustical environment. He was concerned with the ambient noise level
and reverberation levels within the dining facility would be excessive.A layout was
designed and Acoustical Solutions, Inc. was called onto the job site. The first
acoustical treatment that was installed was a series of AlphaSorbT Fabric Wrapped
Hanging Baffles; these were installed in a radius pattern around the center of the
dome. From there other AlphaSorbT Fabric Wrapped Acoustical Wall Panels were flush
mounted to the ceilings with Z Clips around the perimeter of the room. The GSA
architect's goal for both an aesthetically and acoustically pleasing dining facility
was reached and today this is one of the busiest food courts in all of Washington
D.C. The early planning by the architect along with the quality products and
professional installation offered by Acoustical Solutions, Inc., continues to
provide an environment that is both acoustically comfortable and pleasing to the
eye.
